After ten years of visiting Japan, I discovered Asahikawa. Located on northern Japan’s Hokkaido Island, and second largest city behind Sapporo. The thing I love about Asahikawa is it’s location! Absolutely central to all these amazing riding spots. The city itself has more than 2000 restaurants, many unique bars and very friendly locals. A little bit of Japanese goes a long way.

From January to late February is the ideal time to ride the lightest, driest powder in Hokkaido. Regular yearly temperatures at this time of year range from -10c to -20c. Days are short, powder is deep and the Onsen is hot.
